Fenland Clarion started the season well with four riders in the first event of the year. Fenland put in a strong team of 17 riders and made the numbers count. Ray Bailey, Lindsay Clarke, Mike Quanborough and Steve Kaye made a break for it from their group and set up a comanding lead. These four riders rode strongly together and were never cought. Ray broke away from the other riders to win and then Lindsay won the sprint for second.
With one lap to go Greg Ashley (Lutterworth), Jamie Scott (Nene Valley) and Lynden Leadbeater broke away from the rest of the riders to get 5th, 6th & 7th. Peter Todd rode away from the bunch with half a lap to go to get 8th and just behind him Phil Ackerman won the sprint for 9th.
