Wagstaff Wins in Wind
Dave Wagstaff turned in the winning time of 26.40 in the Fenland Clarion's first club event of 2007, the Frostbite 10 mile Time Trial at Helpston.
With none of the big hitters riding Wagstaff was 1.28 too fast for his nearest challenger Malcolm Jacklin, whose winter programme is obviously paying dividends. Meanwhile Simon Pitchford took thirds spot with 29.12 and was three seconds too quick for James Warrener. Strong winds made it tough and kept times down, but the sunshine saw a good turnout, which included two tandems, the fastest being Mike Shattock and his 12 year old son Harry, who impressed with a 31.45.
The next Clarion club event will be the 21 mile Place to Place on Sunday 25 February at Folksworth. For more information contact Steve Clarke (01733 252595) or check out www.fenlandclarion.co.uk
