What are we about?
The Fenland Clarion is one of the largest and friendliest Cycling
Clubs in the area. We have over 100 members taking part in all aspects
of cycling from racing and time-trialling to reliability rides, social
rides, touring, grass track, weekend and mid-week leisure rides, chain
gangs, youth hostel rides and other social events. We produce a
regular club magazine, The Crooked Wheel, to keep our members
up-to-date with what’s going on. Copies are available on request.
What events do we run?
Many of our members are active racing cyclists. Age and ability
varies more than you’d expect but all take part and contribute to
a thriving club community. Our Wednesday evening club 10 is the
central point of our activities and is an excellent place to meet new
friends and socialise even if you are not racing. We organise club and
open races, time trials, road-races, track racing, club championships
and grass tracks.

Club Clothing?
Excellent quality, British-made club jerseys, shorts, track mitts and
skin suits at very affordable prices. We also have a range of leisure
wear for off the bike and the occasional special edition item like our
Tour de France T shirts.
Club Trips
Last year, we organised a trip to the Tour de France prologue in
London with free coach travel being provided for club members. We also
had a trip to the Ghent 6 Day track racing in Belgium.
Tell me about the National Clarion
When you join the Fenland Clarion, you automatically become a member
of the National Clarion, the biggest, friendliest, “all-round”
cycling club in Britain. We have over 700 members all over the country
with 24 sections from London to Scotland. The “Clarion” also
organises many events, National Championships, races and social
events. You will find the Clarion instantly friendly and keen to help
you enjoy your club life as much as we do.
So what will it cost me?
Membership costs £12.00 for a senior with discounts for juniors
and OAPs. We do insist that our members are covered by third party
insurance and legal aid cover for your benefit, not ours! BC and CTC
membership gives you this at a cost typically of about £30.00. |
