Don't forget it's a 6.45 pm start still
It was a nice warm evening after some pretty icy winds recently. The prevailing breeze was a rare South Easterly which blew the riders out whilst giving them a gusty ride back from Ufford.
Lots of great times and real improvements over previous performances, massive congratulations to all who rode and thanks to all the officials who made it happen.
The first Bluebell TT of the season is next week Wednesday 17th April (First rider 6.46pm Start). On the Helpston Circuit (see details below)
Officials for Week 1 are as follows:
Timekeeper: Andy Pitchford
Asst Timekeeper: Lynden Leadbetter
Pusher: Chris Shaw
Note: We will be using two different courses in 2019, the longstanding Helpston Circuit and the new Bainton to Bretton and back to Ufford course. For April, June* and August we will be using the Helpston Circuit. During May and July we will use the Bainton to Bretton and back to Ufford course. National Clarion Cycling Club
Ian Clarke – Secretary
The clubs weekly ten series starts next week and we are all very excited to pin on a number and get racing.
I have had a number of questions about the dates of the races and the variety of events we are putting on this summer. You can get a copy of the clubs race calendar here. Please be minded though that there are still some provisional dates and its worth keeping an eye on the website should roadworks or other issues mean something changes.
Fenland Clarion events are as serious or as social as you want to make them and are always great fun to participate in and marshall.
However, the start of the season is an appropriate time to remind everyone to be safe and respect the rules of the road, even when you are racing.
With that in mind, the club has published this great set of instructions, which you can view here.
We are using both of the courses that we rode last season, but in convenient monthly blocks so you know whether to meet on the heath or at the base of Ufford Hill.
If you have any questions, please get in touch.
The final thing to mention is that there will be a marshalling rota issued presently. Whilst no-one enjoys giving up a ride to marshall, we are all expected to take our turns and ensure that all events run safely and smoothly.
Riders, the more the merrier for good racing. All youth riders welcome.
Cakes, always very welcome
Refreshments - ideally 2 - 3 to help out with them
Signing on - two people required
Timekeepers - three people required
Demo rider to lead the riders round the course
Helpers for setting up, could do with a couple of helpers who could ideally get there early
