Just a quick reminder that its the fourth and last of this years 5 mile time trials on Monday 7th August. Although originally just for youths and ladies we've now opened them up to everyone (minimum age 12 years of course). Signing on is from 6.30 - 6.45 at the former Exeter Arms in Helpston with the first rider off at 7.01. Could really do with 2 - 3 marshals as well if anyone is available, should be all done by 7.45 latest, please let Malc or Steve know if you can help.
Hi to all
There are a number of Grasstrack events in our area over the next few weeks that hopefully a few of our riders, both youths & seniors might want to enter.
Fenland Clarion are part of the Go Green grasstrack series and will be hosting an event on https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/165739/Fenland-Clarion-Grass-Trackat The Embankment Athletic Track on Bishops Road. This will be open to fixed wheel riders, both youths & seniors and there will be freewheel races for youths only. Remember the club has some fixed wheel bikes that can be used in these events and would be suitable for youths or smallish adults. So please enter or if you'd rather offer to help out on the day, or just come and watch. Entries are now online at
Also in the series are similar events with the Sleaford event on, Bourne , Heckington and Spalding on .
PLEASE NOTE for Heckington the youth racing is by invite only and Fenland have been invited to enter a team of 6 riders, with at least one girl. Youth riders for this should let me know they want to ride, there is no online entry. This event is part of a large traditional village show with many other events going on during the day, see http://www.heckingtonshow.org.
All event organisers would appreciate you getting your entries in early, and it would be great if the club could be well represented in these events. There are further grasstrack dates on the clubs website, or the British Cycling website that has full details.
Any questions please let me know.
Yesterday Paul Lilley, Mark Ingram and Simon Pitchford were just 9 seconds off beating the Club record for the Men's 25 mile team. Their aggregate time of 2.45.55 was made up of 54.44, 55.31 and 55.50 respectively and failed to eclipse the record established by Ian Waddy Waddilove, Martin Jones and Paul Lilley in 2008.
Also competing the Eastern Counties Cycling Association 25 mile Championship at Newmarket, were Richard Rich Moys 56.17, Steve Kaye 56.51, Lindsay Clarke 1.00.01 and Steve Clarke 1.00.04
Well done to all !
Fenland Clarion members gathered at the John Clare Cottage, Helpston last night at the conclusion of their final club 10 of the season.
In tosting the success of the winning riders with a specially brewed "Clare Ale" all enjoyed a hearty buffet before taking to the scenic courtyard garden to enjoy a lovely evening with a chat.
The buffet is one of a number of social events in the calender with the camping at Mildenhall coming up this weekend and the club dinner in November.
Thanks to all for coming along and for making it a lovely evening.
The site is now moved and the forum open

The eagerly awaited details of this years Mildenhall cycle rally have been released and we can now take bookings for pitches.
It is our intention to take bookings directly as per last year and then send one payment to Mildenhall, so please get in touch.
You can read mroe about the event in a brochure you can download from here.
Plenty of Clarion clubmates have been along in the past so have a chat with them to find out how much fun for the whole family this trip can be.
These events are possible for anyone with a bike that can cope with a bit of off road riding. Most events have a mixture of cross bikes and mountain bikes, and as its run over a circuit no one can get left behind (well apart from on the first lap). The races are normally from 40 minutes to one hour (less for the younger riders). To compliment these events there will also be a few more off road rides coming up.
So if you fancy a change, why not give one of these a try. Many are local events, and there is one most weekends up to Christmas, and a few into the new year.
Please note the entry details for each event, and that if you want to score in a league series you should note the specific requirements of that league. As we are an Eastern region club, but also cose to the boundary with Central and the Lincolnshire league, you may choose to pick individual events that suit you, or compete in one league throughout the season. If you are unsure please ask.
As well as these league events we will be holding our own YOUTH ONLY cross races on 30th September, 28th October, 25th November & on 11th November there will be another GIRLS ONLY RACENIGHT, so please ride, help out, bring a friend or just help us to spread the word about these nights.
Please have a look through the spreadsheet for an excellent selection of local(ish) events.
So whether you fancy being the next cross expert like Sven Nys (left) or you think you're more of a crowd pleaser, why not give it a go?
