Hereward League 2025

An excellent finish to the Hereward League Series for another year.

The club medal winners for 2025.

Steve Clarke with the Club Trophy (for the club with the most medal winners in the competition).

The Hereward League is a series of time trial cycling events held in the Peterborough area, organized by four local clubs: Peterborough Cycling Club, Bourne Wheelers, Fenland Clarion, and Spalding Cycling Club. Each club hosts one event, and riders accumulate points based on their performance in all four races. The league promotes inter-club competition and is a popular event for cyclists in the region.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Inter-club competition:

The Hereward League is designed to foster friendly competition between the four participating cycling clubs.

  • Time Trial format:

Each event is a 10-mile time trial (10m TT), where riders aim to complete the course in the fastest time.

  • Handicap system:

Riders are given a handicap based on their best time on their home club's 10-mile course, which helps to level the playing field.

  • Points system:

Riders earn points based on their finishing position in each event, and the rider with the most points at the end of the series is declared the overall winner.

  • Event details:

Each club hosts one event, and the series typically consists of four races.

  • Local involvement:

The league is a great way for cyclists in the Peterborough area to participate in competitive cycling and enjoy a sense of community.

  • Event announcements:

Details about the league and individual events can be found on the club websites and social media pages.

A big thank you to Tom for keeping track of all the scores throughout the series.
