Cyclo Cross

These events are possible for anyone with a bike that can cope with a bit of off road riding. Most events have a mixture of cross bikes and mountain bikes, and as its run over a circuit no one can get left behind (well apart from on the first lap). The races are normally from 40 minutes to one hour (less for the younger riders). To compliment these events there will also be a few more off road rides coming up.

So if you fancy a change, why not give one of these a try. Many are local events, and there is one most weekends up to Christmas, and a few into the new year.

Please note the entry details for each event, and that if you want to score in a league series you should note the specific requirements of that league. As we are an Eastern region club, but also cose to the boundary with Central and the Lincolnshire league, you may choose to pick individual events that suit you, or compete in one league throughout the season. If you are unsure please ask.

Thanks to Emma we have a spreadsheet that shows most of the local league events, complete with travelling distances from the Athletic Track and even an approximate travelling time. This season it looks like we are going to get a few more riders taking part, both in the youth age groups, and the seniors, where there are some novice events if you're really unsure. As there are several fixture clashes why not let us know which events you'll be taking part in, that way we can add it to the spreadsheet and hopefully encourage other riders to go to the same event, making it more social as well. E-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As well as these league events we will be holding our own YOUTH ONLY cross races on 30th September, 28th October, 25th November & on 11th November there will be another GIRLS ONLY RACENIGHT, so please ride, help out, bring a friend or just help us to spread the word about these nights.

Please have a look through the spreadsheet for an excellent selection of local(ish) events.

So whether you fancy being the next cross expert like Sven Nys (left) or you think you're more of a crowd pleaser, why not give it a go?

2018 Hill Climb times

It was a bracing morning as the riders gathered at the foot of the first of two hill climbs taken on in this years competition.

The event is promoted in accordance with Peterborough Cycling Club and attracted a good crowd of supporters on both hills. They were certainly looking for suffering riders on the first climb from Ketton to Collyweston, gathering on the left hand bend where the gradient pitches up to over 15%.

Thankfully the sun was out despite the cold and the heavy rain of the previous afternoon had abaited.

The times were really competitive and it ended up as a closely fought competition.

Massive contratulations to all the riders and thanks to those who made the event possible.

2018 Hill Climb Times

This week we will be on the grass improving those cyclocross skills, with all ages catered for.

For those that were on the track last time (typically around 9 - 11 years) we will run a similar session for them next time on 19th October and looking ahead to 2nd November will be having another rollers night.

Great Eastern Run 2018

It's that time of year again when the club has been asked to support the wheelchair athletes doing the half marathon. Event day is Sunday 14th Oct. If you would like to support this event please email me. So far there is only 2 athletes registered. We will need 2 riders supporting the lead chair and 1 for each subsequent entry.

Please note the number of wheelchair athletes, and consequently the number of cycling escorts required, will be confirmed prior to the day. So you won't have a wasted trip.

Regards

Chris.
