Club Runs 2021
Dear club member
British Cycling, to which our club is affiliated, released updated guidance on the plan to resume cycling events and activities in the light of the UK Government’s Covid-19 restrictions on 26 March 2021.
Having considered this updated guidance, your Committee has agreed that the following arrangements will apply to the re-introduction of Sunday Club Runs organised in the club’s name:
...
Sundays 18 April to 16 May: Ian Todd will lead a faster paced club run starting at 09.00 and Birgit Scott will lead a slower paced club run starting at 10.00, both meeting at the Helpston crossroads. Routes for these rides will be circulated in advance and may include a planned coffee stop. We will split into smaller groups in the unlikely event of 16 or more riders turning up for each ride and may in any event split into smaller groups if it appears to the run leader to be more sensible to do so, and to comply with the Rule of Six if we do visit a café with outdoor seating. We will aim to be back in the Helpston area by 13.00 hrs.
Sundays 23 May onwards: We will re-introduce the quarterly club run calendars in advance (although the first calendar will run to the end of June / quarterly thereafter) with planned coffee stops when cafes with indoor seating will be allowed to re-open. We will be limited to 30 maximum but will split into smaller groups in the very unlikely event of there being more than 30 riders.
On all Club Runs:
1. You must not attend if you have any Covid symptoms or feel unwell in any way.
2. You must comply with all Covid Regulations and Guidelines in force at the time of the club run. Please familiarise yourself with the latest British Cycling guidance before you attend any club run.
3. Of particular note: we must still observe the Rule of Six at all times that we are not riding: this means when we meet, if we stop en-route, and if we stop at the end. Therefore, when we meet at Helpston, if there are already 6 riders at our usual meeting place then you must start another group which is clearly separate from the first group. Also, we must observe very good levels of hygiene and be careful when clearing our nose and throats. Use a handkerchief or, if necessary, move well off the back of the group before clearing your nose or throat.
4. You must provide your contact details to the club run leader to facilitate ‘Track and Trace’ in the event that any Covid related issues arise.
5. You must comply with the directions of the club run leader at all times when out on an organised club run.
The committee will keep these arrangements under review and will revise them as necessary to comply with any changes in the Regulations and Guidance, or in light of experience with these arrangements.
