Senior Cyclocross

The return of the club championship event earlier this year proved popular, particularly with newcomers to Cyclocross with a very novice friendly smaller event. It has been decided to repeat this event on Saturday 29th February at 12:00, once again at The Embankment Athletics track on Bishops Road, Peterborough.

In order to allow newcomers to get a taste of Cyclocross we are happy to arrange some practice sessions on Friday evenings at the Athletics Track, although you don't have to be a newcomer to take part. These will give everyone a bit of a workout, and cover the basic skills required to get the best out of yourself, perhaps with little or no Cyclocross

background. We have one or two bikes that could be borrowed, or any off road type bike is quite sufficient.

If you'd be interested in these sessions, please let Malc (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) know ASAP, so we can get some dates in the calendar.

Youth Christmas party 13th December

Our Christmas party is always enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Parents, bring your bike to join in fun games with the kids. Younger children are also encouraged to take park on balance or pedal bikes if they have them.

There will be a prize for the best dressed bike, so get out your tinsel and fairy lights.

After games we will have food, so it would be great if you could all bring a small something for us all to share. I will have a list in the kitchen this week for you to put your name to something sweet, savoury, juicy or practical!

We anticipate the evening will finish between 8-8.30pm.

Merry Cycle-mas!

Lisa (Evander and Anwyn’s mum)

Friday evenings junior cyclo cross results

Many thanks to you all for supporting our youths cycling event Friday. The heavy shower beforehand didn't deter a good entry of 28 riders, and I think they all found the slippery conditions a challenge, but well worth it and you'll improve the more you ride in a range of conditions.

We host the third and final round in our series on Friday 8th November, when we'll give out a few prizes for the series, plus if we can get a few more of the youngest riders, we'll have an under 6 category for those in school year one or younger.

Please find the series to date results attached, and we hope to see you all on the 8th November, and please help us spread the word to all your cycling friends.

I'd also recommend trying the Muddy Monsters North Cambs series that is currently being listed on British Cycling, they have a similar format and not too much travelling involved.

Click here for the results sheet.

Muddy Monsters and senior cyclcross

This series will be starting again THIS Saturday, with Fenland Clarion hosting the final round on Saturday 29th February 2020.
These events are held under British Cycling Go Ride Racing format, like our Friday events, which means you'll get at least two races. These are scored from one "sprint" race and one "endurance" race, normally with a non-scoring race such as a handicap also included to provide a good mornings racing. This should be a great series, with not too much travelling, and suitable for all of our youth riders with agegroups from u8 to u16.
Here are the dates, with only the first one currently listed on British Cycling website, although the others will be on there very soon.

Saturday 12th October Cambridge
Saturday 19th October Ely

30th November Kings Lynn

14th December Peterborough (TBC)

11th January Kings Lynn

29th February Fenland Clarion, Peterborough Embankment (followed at 12:00 by a senior event for the club, with parents welcome to try a cyclocross event)

Peterborough Great Eastern Run - Cycle Marshals

Joint hill-climb promotion this Sunday

It's that time of year where Fenland Clarion and Peterborough CC riders comepete in a two stage hill climb championship.

It takes place this coming Sunday 6th October with signing on and the first stage starting on the road out of Ketton to Collyweston.

Climb one starts across the stone bridge before climbing up the hillside before a left turn and increase in steepness through the village.

Riders then ride (untimed) back down and through Ketton before taking in stage 2 which goes up the side of the cement works towards the main Stamford to Melton Mowbray road.

More details are available here

We hope to see as many FCCC riders taking part as possible.
